Great western - 3:10 to Yuma Reviews
Excellent! I loved it! Big fan of westerns. Mostly Eastwood westerns. Don't care much for J.W. westerns. Action-packed. Exciting. Fun.
Wow. - 3:10 to Yuma Reviews
I grew up with the good old westerns and this on was all right. It might even bring back a trend. The men we all good looking.. so women, see it for the eye candy.
Sad! - 3:10 to Yuma Reviews
My first clue that this movie was going to be a stinker was when I saw Roger Ebert gave it an A. Pure Hollywood promoting its liberal ideals and agendas. They took a perfectly good movie and Hollypunked it out. If you liked the original version then rent it and re-watch it and take the money you save and buy a nice dinner and call it a great evening. You want to be treated like a mindless sheep by the Hollywood propagandists then by all means go to this movie, check your brain at the door to leave head room for the copious amount of BS they will shovel in it. I have to believe that Hollywood pays people to go to these sites to generate all these A+ reviews. I see it all the time with these worthless mind sucking films and I would have to lose all faith in the collective American IQ to believe they are truly representive of the popular opinion.
We need more movies like this! - 3:10 to Yuma Reviews
I'm tired of the mindless drivel that Hollywood puts out all the time. This movie is a refreshing change! If you like the genre or not, you will find a breath of fresh air in this one! Must see it! Great acting and scenery!
Can't go wrong with a christian bale movie! - 3:10 to Yuma Reviews
The acting was superb, which made the characters even better. It was fun, funny, action packed and deep at time in family related way. You won't be disappointed.
A shoot em up with some soul - 3:10 to Yuma Reviews
This movie was better made and acted then I was expecting. There was some intelligence and heart that you don't usually get in a western. I am really starting to think Christian Bale isn't getting enough credit for his skill and if you think Russell Crowe was having problems, this would be his comeback role. Both actors were great. The supporting cast did a great job also with Ben Foster stealing scenes as Charlie and Alan Tudyk (as always) providing some great scenes as Doc Potter.
Fails the taste test - 3:10 to Yuma Reviews
"3:10 to Yuma" starts off like a delicious chocolate sundae where halfway through you notice a slightly bitter aftertaste only to find on your last spoonful a cigarette butt at the bottom of the glass. If you are mesmerized by shiny objections you may just walk out of the theater satisfied, but if you are a stickler for plausibility and logic than more likely than not "3:10 to Yuma" will leave you nauseous and in need of a good antacid.
A few SPOILERS follow (I'll try to keep them as vague as possible) but I want to give you a flavor of what you're in for:
- DON'T harass the badest bad-ass west of the Pecos and then fall asleep on-watch.
- If someone fails to awake after falling asleep on-watch after harassing said bad-ass definitely DON'T start in on the bad-ass with the "momma jokes" the next day, especially if you're riding next to him along a 300 foot cliff.
- DON'T turn your back on the bad-ass at every given opportunity.
- DO shackle the bad-ass' hands behind his back when not riding, and if he is so bad maybe while riding would be advised.
- DO put out any and all campfires while under fire from the dark perimeter of your camp, and maybe consider going without a fire while in indian country altogether.
- DO shoot the bad-ass' buddies if they are close and in plain view and you have cover.
The story told in "3:10 to Yuma" has a lot going for it, good acting, good look, good direction, unfortunately what fails ultimately, is the story its self. Ironically, the only character I felt sorry for by the end of the movie was the lest sympathetic, the uber-villain (the bad-ass' second in command) who's downfall is due to maybe his only virtue; his unquestioned loyalty to the bad-ass.
